Temba Mliswa Blames Wicknell Chivayo for US$75K Armed Robbery at In-Laws’ Marondera Farm

Outspoken politician Temba Mliswa has pointed the finger at businessman Wicknell Chivayo, holding him responsible for the armed robbery that took place at Lulu Muteke’s parents’ farm in Marondera.

A gang of 20 armed robbers stormed Alpha Omega Farm, owned by Chivayo’s in-laws, and got away with USD 74,100 in cash, a pistol, and several high-value items, including Samsung S24, S23, and Galaxy A35 smartphones.

Taking to X on Wednesday, 19 March, Mliswa blamed Chivayo for drawing attention to the money at the farm. He argued that Chivayo’s flashy videos boasting about the extravagant lobola he paid had effectively tipped off criminals.

“This unfortunate incident is squarely on sekuru vangu Moyo who alerted everyone as to the huge amounts of money that were paid at the lobola event. He must be reprimanded by the police as his publicization invited robbers putting his in-laws in danger,” Mliswa said.

“Flaunting Money in a Struggling Economy is Dangerous”

Mliswa went further, warning Chivayo against openly showing off his riches, especially considering Zimbabwe’s tough economic situation.

“Vanhu vane nzara kunze uku and you can’t flaunt money like that in their faces. The next thing you get people hurt or killed as you put your in-laws in danger. Some of these issues of wealth are private business and there is no need to repeatedly tell the public, it’s your money. In our current situation as a country, as a public figure, one should be conscientious to know what things to put out into the public domain. I have told sekuru to put some of that money to good use and donate computers to Dudley Hall School where he learnt,” Mliswa added.

Mliswa Urges Chivayo to Build a School Dormitory

Mliswa also urged Chivayo to consider funding a dormitory at Dudley Hall School in Norton, suggesting it could serve as a lasting legacy in his name.

“It’s a good cause that will build him a positive legacy with a block named after him, his mother or whoever he wants. There is so much hot-seating and he can build a new block for the students. A Wicknell Chivayo Block or dorm,” he said.

Mliswa concluded by encouraging Chivayo to contact the school head, Mrs. Tagwirei, at 0772 815 899, if he was interested in the project.
