Nick Shirley, who helped uncover an estimated several billion dollars in fraud in Minnesota, has turned his attention to California as allegations of “ghost” daycare centers surface.
“Hello California I’ve arrived,” Shirley boasted to his more than one million followers on X Saturday. The 23-year-old also included an photo of himself wearing a “Support Independent Journalism” hoodie in the post.
While Shirley’s exact plans while he’s in California are unclear, private investigator Amy Reichert offered some clues.

“California, here we come! When @nickshirleyy drops the video, it’s going to be (fire emoji),” Reichert wrote in a post of a photo of herself with Shirley.
Reichert also appeared on Fox News with Jesse Watters to talk about the fraud she says she’s uncovered in California’s daycare system.

“I started looking into state records and I found ghost daycares, these are places where the state inspector showed up there would be 28 kids enrolled and there were no kids there in the middle of the day and in the middle of the week,” Reichert said.
Reichert went on to claim there could be billions of dollars worth of fraud uncovered in California.
