Meta partners with iHeartMedia to bring a free Coldplay immersive VR concert experience to Meta Horizon, based on the band’s stint at Wembley Stadium.
Meta has announced a partnership with iHeartMedia to bring Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour to Meta Horizon. Kicking off on December 30 at 11 AM PT, the free immersive experience uses stereoscopic 180-degree VR based on the band’s gig at Wembley Stadium.
The full track list hasn’t yet been revealed, but Meta confirmed featured songs will include “Yellow,” “Fix You,” “Viva La Vida,” “A Sky Full of Stars,” and “feelslikeimfallinginlove.” Free Coldplay avatar merch is also available now via the Avatar Editor in VR or the concert pages on iOS and Android.
“Wembley Stadium is just a few miles from where we played our first gigs, so we’re very grateful to Meta and iHeart for bringing this special hometown concert to people all around the world—as if they were right there in the stadium, but in the comfort of their own homes,” said Coldplay.
“Our team worked closely with iHeart to capture the tour during its leg at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium in immersive stereoscopic 180-degree VR,” said Meta in their blog post. “The production used 15 cameras, including four tower cams, dual rails, two Steadicams, 12 REDs, a Spydercam system, and three new Blackmagic URSAs, which offer extra resolution and sharper lenses, bringing the sights and sounds of the concert to life with stunning clarity. We secured unprecedented prime locations—closer to the band than ever before, and at the highest vantage points we’ve reached yet.”
Ahead of the concert, Meta revealed a Coldplay Music Pack for rhythm guitar game Beat Saber, dropping on December 18. The pack includes 12 new songs for $14.99 or $1.99 for individual tracks. Currently, it’s unknown whether the track list from the DLC pack will feature the same songs from the upcoming immersive experience.
Coldplay is also returning to fitness app Supernatural in the U.S. and Canada with three new workouts, following their original appearance in 2022. Starting on December 29, this includes two multi-intensity Boxing and Flow workouts, which Meta states will blend older singles like “Fix You” and “Viva La Vida” with more recent releases like “WE PRAY” and “feelslikeimfallinginlove.”
