Petrichor Records invites musicians of all ages from around the world to participate in the 5th Petrichor International Music Competition.
For its fifth annual Petrichor International Music Competition, independent contemporary classical music label Petrichor Records invites performers, singers, ensembles, orchestras, conductors, and composers of all ages and nationalities to participate.
The label is offering $60,000 in prizes across 12 categories for the 2025 edition of the competition. In addition to the cash prizes, promotional packages will be awarded across the categories. All selected musicians will have an exclusive opportunity to release their work through Petrichor Records.
Submissions of videos of your performances, audio recordings, or scores of your music must be made by December 22.
Performance categories (video submission):
- Solo Performers Under 16: $1,000
- Solo Performers Under 21: $2,000
- Solo Performers Over 21: $3,000
- Small Ensembles: $3,000
- Large Ensembles/Orchestras/Choirs: $4,000
Composition categories (audio, video, or score submission):
- Composers Under 21: $2,000
- Composers Over 21: $3,000
- Electronic or Multidisciplinary: $2,000
- Film/Video Game/Animation Music: $2,000
- Arrangements: $2,000
- Improvisation: $2,000
Recording category:
- Best Album: $4,000
Finalists in each category will receive official certificates. Participants may submit multiple entries, and each submission is evaluated independently. The first submission fee is $45, with discounted fees for additional entries. Fee waivers may be granted in specific circumstances.
There are no repertoire restrictions to enter. Applicants may submit any piece, including original compositions, contemporary works, traditional music, arrangements, or improvisations. Singers may submit repertoire in any language. Submissions will be reviewed individually by the Petrichor Artistic Panel without consideration of age, nationality, gender, or musical style.
Petrichor Records is an independent record label with a particular focus on contemporary classical music, though the company is dedicated to supporting musicians across various genres. Petrichor actively seeks out new talent worldwide through open calls, auditions, and recommendations.
In addition to supporting emerging artists, Petrichor collaborates closely with established artists from diverse genres to propose new projects, including concerts, albums, sound installations, and conceptual performances.
