Balfour Beatty promotes Slade to lead UK regional civils business

Balfour Beatty has appointed Kay Slade as managing director of its UK regional civils business.
Slade will take up her new post next month.
She replaces Mark Arrandale, who has served as interim regional civils managing director since October 2025. He will return to his position as finance director at the end of the month.
Slade, a qualified solicitor with a background in major projects, joined Balfour Beatty four years ago as managing counsel.
She became area director for the UK Regional Civils business in March 2024.
Before joining the contractor, Slade spent six years at tier one contractor Costain in legal and corporate roles.
She has led the restructuring of Balfour Beatty’s civils operations in the North West, consolidating its presence and improving delivery across the transport and flood defence sectors. Her work has included overseeing several award-winning projects.
Balfour Beatty said that Slade’s promotion reflects its strategy to retain and develop staff capable of delivering complex infrastructure schemes.
Nick Crossfield, divisional chief executive of UK Construction Services at Balfour Beatty, said Slade had a “proven record of delivery” and would help guide the business through its upcoming pipeline of projects.
Slade said she was “honoured” to take on the role and that her promotion showed the “breadth of opportunity” within the company.
