Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Remake Reportedly Delayed by Up to a Year 1

In case you missed it, Ubisoft has announced a massive restructuring of its business, and part of those plans involve the cancellation and delay of many of its projects.

In a new report from Insider Gaming (and further comments from Tom Henderson), it seems Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s heavily rumoured and leaked remake has fallen victim to this chaos.

The game doesn’t appear to have been outright cancelled, but it’s believed to be one of the games that has been delayed, and it might be up to a year later than was initially planned, according to the report.

This quotation from Ubisoft’s statement is the source of this:

“In parallel, the Group will allocate additional development time to 7 games in order to ensure enhanced quality benchmarks are fully met and maximize long-term value creation. This includes the unannounced title initially planned for FY26, that has been delayed to FY27.”

Insider Gaming expects that the Black Flag remake is the “unannounced” game being referred to here.

According to the report (and Tom Henderson on X), the game was planned to launch on 19th March 2026, which would put it just within the publisher’s financial year 2026. If it’s been delayed to FY27, that means it could release as late as March next year.

We’ve been hearing rumours and seeing leaks about this game for a long time now, most recently with an official European age rating for a game titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

In other news, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been officially cancelled altogether following years of beleaguered development.
