Few video game characters are as iconic as Sonic the Hedgehog. The speedy little blue blur has been around for over three decades, touching every corner of pop culture, from games to comics, to TV, to blockbuster movies.
Sonic rushed onto the Summer Game Fest stage to reveal a new game in the renowned franchise. Sonic Superstars is a new 2D platformer starring Sonic and his buddies that mixes the nostalgic aesthetics of classic games with modern design. In addition to the announcement video, the game was assigned a fall 2023 launch date.

Sonic Superstars will be arriving on all major gaming platforms. These include the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch systems.
The game will also have a new feature: co-op. Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles are the four characters available. SO up to four people can experience the voyage together, one on the platform through local multiplayer. Yes, this covers the whole campaign from start to finish.
The iconic Chaos Emeralds are also back. This time, gathering these gems will provide the blue ball and his companion’s skills known as Emerald Powers.
These abilities include the capacity to make clones and climb waterfalls, both of which should aid in exploration and navigation. Furthermore, this title will have difficult boss fights and a variety of collectibles to uncover.

Sonic Superstars is an upcoming video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a 2D platformer title, similar to the Sega Mega Drive entries, and follows Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles as they explore the mystical Northstar Islands to take down Dr. Eggman, who has teamed up with mischievous bounty hunter Fang the Sniper to defeat the heroes.
