Winvic creates data centre division

Winvic has established a data centre division as part of a wider growth strategy.
The Northampton-based contractor said it would design and deliver purpose-built data centres, adding the sector to its three existing business areas: industrial and logistics, multi-room residential, and civils and infrastructure.
Winvic said it had spent 18 months developing its data centre offering by expanding its team and upskilling existing staff.
It is working alongside specialist mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors to support delivery.
Winvic’s foray into data centres follows more than two decades of experience in building large, complex industrial and logistics facilities.
The £1.02bn-turnover firm said the similarities between those jobs and data centres made the new offering a “natural evolution”.
In its latest accounts for the year to 31 January 2025, the company said “our capability in creating complex, highly efficient, technology-integrated spaces position us well to explore opportunities within the emerging data centre market with both new and existing clients”.
And the year before, it attributed a near-doubling in its profit to the boom in data centre work.
Danny Nelson, Winvic managing director for industrial, logistics and data centres, said the company’s delivery track record and collaborative approach gave it a competitive advantage in the sector.
Danny Cross, the contractor’s director and head of data centre delivery, said the business had focused on ensuring technical precision while maintaining scale and resilience.
He added: “This marks a significant milestone in Winvic’s evolution as we expand into one of the fastest-growing construction sectors.”
