<span>STORY: :: Pyongyang, North Korea</span><span>:: December 31, 2025</span><span>:: North Korean schoolchildren perform to welcome the New Year in Pyongyang</span><span>:: January 1, 2026</span><span>In footage provided by KCNA, which Reuters could not independently verify, a big clock was seen on stage ticking past midnight into 2026 followed by an announcement that New Year had arrived, before the start of performances.</span><span>The video showed performers playing the violin, trumpet, and traditional instruments along with a taekwondo demonstration on stage.</span><span>KCNA said the audience included senior officials from ministries and national agencies, teaching staff, students as well as workers in Pyongyang.</span>
