Shedeur Sanders’ Mom Responds Strongly to Kevin Stefanski’s Speech After Browns’ Win

The Cleveland Browns, with rookie Shedeur Sanders under the center, headed to Las Vegas and took care of business, beating the Las Vegas Raiders 24-10, as the QB secured his first NFL win in his first NFL start. Right after the victory, the Browns posted a clip on Instagram showing head coach Kevin Stefanski’s locker-room speech, and he made sure to give the fifth-round pick a quick shout-out for his debut performance.

“How about that road win?” Stefanski said. “We stayed resilient together, and we fought together. How about Gage (Lavardain’s) big return on special teams? How about Corey (Bojorquez) pinning those guys deep every single time and doing his job? Offense wasn’t perfect, but how about that big play by (Dylan Sampson) at the end? … Then another rookie making his first start, nice job, Shedeur.”
Right after that went down, Shedeur’s mom, Pilar Sanders, slid into the comment section and praised his son’s hard work, noting, “Look how that ONE week of Practice paid off!!!! GREAT JOB rookie !!! Your FIRST START AND WIN at the same time! Not seen since 1995 go SHEDEUR! THATS BIG Browns!”

Stefanski named Shedeur the QB1 ahead of the Raiders game, mainly because fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel was still stuck in concussion protocol. Gabriel had been the starter ever since the team moved on from Joe Flacco, but he suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.
With Gabriel out, Shedeur was thrown into his NFL debut against Baltimore. And let’s just say it was rough. The former Colorado Buffaloes star completed just 4 of 16 passes and tossed an interception, which wasn’t too surprising considering it was his first time getting full offensive reps in a long while, as Stefanski explained.
But it didn’t take long for things to change fast. As Pilar Sanders highlighted, Shedeur put in the work all week, and it showed. The rookie bounced back in a big way and made history in his first official NFL start.
Shedeur Sanders created history in a Week 12 Browns’ win
The Browns have been fighting through offensive issues all season, barely cracking 17 points most weeks. In fact, through 12 games, they’d scored 17 or more points only four times heading into their Week 12 matchup.
But against the Raiders, everything finally clicked. Not only did Shedeur Sanders and the offense put up 24 points, but the rookie also made a little franchise history, as he became the first Cleveland rookie quarterback to win his debut NFL start since Eric Zeier in 1995.
The Colorado product went 11-of-20 for 209 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. And with that performance, Shedeur snapped a 17-game losing streak for Cleveland in matchups where a quarterback was making his first career start. It’s the longest such streak by any franchise since QB starts began being tracked in 1950.
On top of that, the win also put an end to the Browns’ 13-game road losing streak, which had been the longest active skid in the NFL and the second-longest road slump in team history. Now, with the Browns set to host the San Francisco 49ers next, the obvious question pops up: Can Shedeur Sanders keep this level of play going against a much stronger team?
