Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs breaks another prison rule within days of alleged alcohol bust

Sean “Diddy” Combs does not seem to be making a good first impression at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute in New Jersey.

Within days of getting busted for allegedly consuming homemade alcohol at the low-security prison he was transported to late last month, he got in trouble for allegedly participating in a prohibited three-way phone call.

CBS News reported Monday that the call in question occurred on Nov. 3, just four days after the rapper was transferred to the new facility from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY.

According to prison documents, Combs, 56, called an unnamed woman to discuss arranging visitors for the weekend and suggested they bring cash — “200 singles.” (Prison regulations bar visitors from bringing in currency other than coins for the vending machines.)

After that portion of the conversation ended, the music mogul said he needed to speak with someone described as “the digital person” regarding blogs.

When the woman asked whether she should add that person to the call, he replied, “Yes.”

Combs later told officials that the woman was his attorney and the male caller was the head of legal communications. The purpose of the call was to discuss issuing an unspecified statement to The New York Times, according to Combs, who denied talking about blogs.

Per the US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons, “third-party or three-way calls are not authorized.”

However, Combs claimed no one had informed him about that, insisting he never received the prison admission and orientation handbook.

According to CBS News, officials recommended he lose 90 days of phone privileges and 90 days of commissary privileges for the infraction. It’s unclear whether the recommended penalty has been implemented.

“This is a serious offense that shows a disregard for the rules,” a source close to the investigation told the outlet.

But Combs’ publicist, Juda Engelmayer, argued that the “procedural call” was not “improper” because it’s “protected under attorney-client privilege.”

Shortly after entering Fort Dix, TMZ reported that Combs was caught allegedly drinking a concoction of Fanta soda, sugar and apples, which inmates leave to ferment to create an alcoholic substance.

The Bad Boy Records founder’s family, who is running his social media accounts while he’s locked up, denied the “rumors” via X, calling them “completely false.”

Engelmayer added, “Mr. Combs is in his first week at FCI Fort Dix and is focused on adjusting, working on himself and doing better each day.

“As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumors and exaggerated stories throughout his time there — most of them untrue.”

She went on to urge the public to “give him the benefit of the doubt” and “the privacy to focus on his personal growth with grace and purpose.”

Combs is serving a 50-month sentence for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

He is set to be released in May 2028.
