The Boston Celtics are heading into the 2025-26 season with little expectations after a major overhaul to their roster. They have lost four of their key members this summer and will look to make the most of this upcoming season.

The Celtics are not the overwhelming favorites to make a deep playoff run like they have been this decade. Instead, many consider this season a ‘gap year’ for the Celtics, especially considering they will be without their superstar forward, Jayson Tatum.
Boston’s frontcourt is surely its weakness this season after it had been its strength for the past two seasons. It’s their weakest part of the team, but that could all change with a trade this season.
Rohan Brahmbhatt of Clutch Points named three trade targets the Celtics could go after and named $188 million All-Star forward Pascal Siakam as one of the options to bolster the frontcourt.

“With Porziņģis shipped out, Boston’s frontcourt depth has been exposed,” Brahmbhatt writes. “What the Celtics need is a proven, versatile big man who can not only handle interior duties but also carry stretches of offense when Brown and Simons aren’t on the floor. Pascal Siakam checks every box.
“Siakam has the kind of two-way skill set that can stabilize Boston’s roster in the absence of Tatum. Offensively, he is comfortable scoring in the post, facing up from midrange, and even facilitating as a secondary playmaker. Defensively, his length and mobility allow him to guard multiple positions, an essential trait in Boston’s switch-heavy scheme. In many ways, Siakam could replicate some of the offensive variety that Porziņģis brought while also adding more defensive versatility.”
A potential trade for Siakam would certainly be pricey and difficult. Siakam is coming off a stellar playoff run with the Pacers, and the chance of Indiana trading Siakam is low, especially to a conference rival.
Nonetheless, the Celtics adding Siakam would do wonders for their chances this season and certainly in the future. The three-time All-Star is one of the best forwards in the game.
Siakam is an elite interior and exterior scorer with phenomenal post moves, capable of scoring downhill and also exhibiting some playmaking ability. As for the defensive end, he could do more than hold his own on that side, with the ability to guard positions one through four.
The 31-year-old is still at the top of his game.
What Would a Pascal Siakam Trade Look Like?
In a potential deal for Siakam, the Celtics would acquire him, and Boston would send Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard, and Neemias Queta to Indiana.
With the Celtics being a first apron team, they cannot take in more salary than it is sending out.
