22D Music Group acquires a stake in Velvetica Music to bolster their position as a boutique music rights specialist.

22D Music Group and Velvetica Music have signed an agreement marking the merger of two highly complementary players in the French music publishing space. Since its beginnings in 2006, 22D Music Group has been an independent company specializing in music rights management, with a powerful presence in the international audiovisual industry.

This alliance marks the emergence of an independent French group backed by a network of reliable partners. Together, 22D Music and Velvetica are strengthening their role as a hub for production companies, authors, composers, and artists.

The Paris headquarters employs around 20 people. Thanks to its network of partner offices, sub-publishers, and direct affiliations with over 25 major collective management organizations, 22D Music Group controls the entire collection chain for music publishing and secondary rights.

Founded in 2011 by Thomas Jamois, who is a board member of Sacem, CSDEM, CEMF, and SEAM, Velvetica Music gathers 12 employees under the managing role of Johanna Bisac. It mainly acts as a music publisher administrator and sub-publisher for players in the audiovisual sector and the pop music industry, whether artists, labels, or publishers. Its clients include Phoenix, Caravan Palace, JB Dunckel, Yuksek, Bucks Music, Beggars Music, Manners McDade, and many more.

22D Music administer music publishing catalogs of audiovisual producers, including France Television, RTVE, UGC, Banijay Studio France, Faber, and Cartoon Saloon—as well as film composers like Amine Bouhafa, Bruno Coulais, Atli Örvarsson, Eric Neveux, Stephen Warbeck, and artists and songwriters like Asha Puthli, Mylene Farmer, Peter Cat Recording, Camille Bazbaz, Maddy Street, and Little Bob. 22D provides music services for feature films and TV series, including music supervision, licensing and clearance, legal support, and overall coordination.

With its in-house creative department, 22D supports authors, composers, producers, publishers, and creators at every stage of the music production chain—from talent scouting and financing to soundtrack releases.

“This operation is based on a shared vision of rights management: independent, expert, and resolutely focused on the needs of our partners and clients,” said Emmanuel Delétang, CEO of 22D Music Group.

“We want to develop a model that is nimble and can address today’s digital and environmental challenges in a sector where practices evolve rapidly and the volume of data continues to multiply, where ensuring the traceability of usage and revenues has become a major issue.”

“Through this alliance, we aim to strengthen our expertise and enhance the quality of services we provide, particularly to stakeholders in the audiovisual production industry.”

For several years, 22D Music has been committed to driving change in the industry by promoting diversity, gender equality, and sustainable practices:

Diversity & Inclusion: Actively supports the visibility of female composers through dedicated programs, masterclasses, and initiatives like the Annecy Music Lab, which connects young composers and directors.

International Engagement: Board member of the CSDEM (French Music Publishers Association) and the IMPF (International Music Publishers Forum). Since 2021, 22D has co-organized the IMPF Global Music Summit, the leading event for independent publishers worldwide, with Creative Europe and IMPF.
