Sony’s very own Aniplex subsidiary, which sits under the Sony Music Entertainment umbrella, is working alongside Capcom and Korean developer JOYCITY to bring Resident Evil to mobile.
A new game, subtitled Survival Unit, will be fully revealed during an online livestream from 3PM PDT/11PM BST on 10th July.
You can find out what time that is in your territory below:
- North America: 3pm PDT / 4pm MDT / 5pm CDT / 6pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 11pm BST
- Europe: 12am (Fri) CEST / 1am (Fri) EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 7am (Fri) JST / 6am (Fri) AWST / 8am (Fri) AEST
The game is being described as a “real-time strategy experience optimised for mobile platforms”.
Here’s the official blurb:
“Resident Evil: Survival Unit offers a fresh take on the beloved franchise, reimagining the survival horror universe as a real-time strategy experience optimized for mobile platforms, iOS and Android. The game is designed to appeal to both long time fans and new players.”
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays, because RTS will be new territory for the Resident Evil franchise as far as we’re aware.
