Written by admin on June 22, 2025
Kyle Busch is currently one of the most experienced and accomplished drivers in NASCAR. However, despite all his experience, the No. 8 Chevrolet has been struggling on the track for a while now.
Over the years, Busch has mastered almost every track type and won 63 races in the Cup Series. Although his last Cup win came in 2023, The Rowdy has come painfully close to clinching a victory since.
After a rather unfortunate turn of events in Mexico City, fans have big expectations from Busch’s Pocono outing. Ahead of the contest, the Richard Childress Racing driver faced the cameras and got candid about his relationship with the track.
Kyle Busch’s Expectations for Pocono and His Record on the Track
While Busch has not lacked speed in the season so far, he currently ranks 18th and has only one top-five finish in his 16 starts.
Before addressing his expectations for the contest at Pocono Raceway, Busch stated that the team is not carrying any baggage from its underwhelming season performances and is instead focused on the race for the week.
Following this, a journalist asked the No. 8 driver, “What do you love about Pocono so much?”
Busch responded: “Pocono’s fun. I mean, it’s very challenging and gave me a headache for a lot of years.”
The two-time championship winner admitted to struggling on the ‘Trick Triangle’ in the years of his career. However, he added that around a decade ago, in 2014, he started picking things up and learned what was required to succeed at Pocono.
He then referred to winning the Pocono contest a handful of times with his former team, Joe Gibbs Racing. He said:
“That’s certainly been the case in my JGR days and winning here, you know, four or five times in the last little bit.”
As for his experience on the track, Busch has started at the Pocono Raceway a few dozen times over the years. In the early years of his career, while he won a handful of times and loudly announced his arrival, it took him a while to do so at Pocono.
His first win at the track came in 2017 when he drove the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and also secured the pole position for the race. Once he mastered the Pocono recipe, he won at the track three more times in his tenure at Joe Gibbs.
His most recent win at the track was in 2021 when Busch demonstrated his classic unwavering grit and arrived in the victory lane despite an early setback.
As for his overall record at the Pocono Raceway, among the current Cup drivers, Busch has the highest number of starts at the track. As for his total wins on the track, he is currently the runner-up, behind Denny Hamlin, who has seven wins at Pocono.
