The Sacramento Kings continue to be one of the best surprises in the NBA this season, holding the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference with a 19-16 record.
Sacramento is on the road on Tuesday night against the Utah Jazz, who have cooled off considerably after a fast start. Utah is in the middle of a four-game losing streak, pushing it below .500 on the season.
The Jazz would still be in the play-in tournament in the season ended today, clinging to the No. 10 seed, but the team has regressed a lot, especially on the defensive end. Utah enters this game with the league’s No. 27 defensive rating.
There are a few injuries to look at in this game, starting with Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk, who are both listed as questionable for the Kings. Utah will be without guard Collin Sexton due to a hamstring injury.
The Jazz have been much better at home this season (12-6 straight up) than on the road, but do they deserve to be favorites against this Kings team?
Here’s a look at the latest odds and a pick for this Western Conference matchup:
Kings vs. Jazz odds, spread and total
Kings vs. Jazz prediction and pick
The Jazz have a solid record at home this season, but one trend suggests that they are a fade candidate on Tuesday night.
Utah is just 4-7 against the spread as a home favorite this season, posting a -2.2 against the spread plus/minus in those games.
The Kings aren’t elite as road dogs (6-6 ATS on the season), but they did beat this Jazz team by one in their last meeting on a game-winning shot by Huerter.
This game should be a close one, but I like getting the points with the Kings for a few reasons.
Obviously, Utah’s record as a home favorite is concerning, but the team has progressively gotten worse on the defensive end of the floor this season.
The Kings and Jazz both have high-powered offensive attacks, so we should see plenty of points in this game. However, I think there is value in getting 2.5 points on the Kings in a game I think they could win outright.
Utah has lost four straight, including a loss to the Miami Heat at home with Jimmy Butler out. This team is reeling right now, so I’ll fade the Jazz as favorites here.
