Douglas Zimmerman/SFGATEBART will not be running its train service between several East Bay stations on Presidents Day weekend to repair a worn section of track on the yellow line, the busiest line in the BART network, the transit agency announced Feb. 6.
The 7,200-foot-long stretch of rail that connects the Rockridge, Orinda and Lafayette stations will be repaired Feb. 18-20.
BART passengers should expect 30-minute delays; free buses will replace train service between the three stations. Only the Orinda station will be fully closed.
The last scheduled departure on all three days from Antioch to Lafayette/Orinda will be earlier than usual. Westbound passengers from Antioch will have to catch the train at 11:14 p.m.

A spokesperson for the transit agency told SFGATE that holiday weekends are typically low-ridership periods, so they expect the track replacement to impact only a small number of passengers.
The construction of the “decades old” track is being funded by the Measure RR rebuilding program, a $3.5 billion bond approved in 2016 to rebuild BART’s infrastructure.
BART will continue this rebuilding project on a few tentative weekend dates: April 1-2, April 15-16, May 13-14, May 27-29 (Memorial Day weekend) and June 10-11.
The agency recommends checking its online “Trip Planner,” which shows the schedule for free buses and any canceled rides.
