The word “Katraar” means “a group of learned people who change the world” in Tamil. AR Rahman has been a leading force in the Indian music industry for decades. His latest metaverse project aims to change the way people create and engage with music. The platform will feature soundtracks from international artists. Also, AR Rahman himself will publish original pieces within the metaverse.
The platform is developed in association with the HBAR Foundation. The foundation helps builders to create across a variety of domains like tech, business, marketing, legal, and other markets. The metaverse is also to be launched on HBAR’s Hedera Network. Furthermore, the project will also include an unreleased project based on digital creatures, and help fuse NFT technology into music, art, and storytelling.

The music icon announced the launch of this project as he celebrated his 56th Birthday last week on January 6th. Katraar is an initiative to “bring in new talent, techniques and bring direct revenue to artists.” according to the Twitter thread announcing the release. With this, Rahman aims to empower artists and creators and build a sustainable community of music lovers. Moreover, the platform will also access new ways and leverage blockchain technology to increase income streams for artists.
